Terroir

Mercurey is an “Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée” (AOC) since 1936.

Red wines are exclusively made from Pinot Noir grapes and white wines from Chardonnay.

Maximum yield is 45 hectoliters per hectare for the whites and 40 hectoliters per hectare for the reds.

About 3 316 000 bottles of red wine and 422 000 bottles of white wine are produced each year.

30 specific plots, named “climat” or “clos” are registered as premier cru. They could be on the production area of Mercurey or Saint Martin sous Montaigu:
